This 5-minute fried halloumi recipe gives the cheese a golden crust and warm, savory center. Finish it with warmed honey, toasted sesame seeds, and Aleppo pepper, then add fresh fruit for a sweet-and-salty Mediterranean appetizer.
Heat the oil. In a nonstick pan, heat 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil over medium-high until shimmering.
Fry the halloumi. Add the halloumi sticks in a single layer without crowding the pan. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes, until the underside develops a golden-brown crust. Turn with tongs and cook for another 1 to 2 minutes.
Warm the honey. Meanwhile, gently warm the honey in a small skillet. Alternatively, place the tightly closed honey jar in warm water until the honey loosens enough to drizzle.
Finish and serve. Transfer the fried halloumi to a serving platter. Sprinkle with the toasted sesame seeds and a dash of Aleppo pepper or crushed red pepper flakes. Drizzle with the warmed honey, serving any unused honey on the side. If you like, arrange grapes, figs, or berries around the cheese. Serve immediately.

Notes
Halloumi is usually available in the refrigerated cheese section near the feta and mozzarella.
Cooked halloumi is best served immediately while it is still warm and soft.
If you have leftovers, chop the cold halloumi and add it to a salad.
